Taiwan says AI-assisted cyberattack targeted government agencies
Taiwan said it detected an AI-assisted cyberattack campaign from overseas that targeted government agencies last month, describing the activity as abnormal. Officials said the affected agencies handled the incident. The statement came a day after reports that suspected China-linked hackers had carried out what was described as a first-of-its-kind breach. Beijing was not quoted.
Why it matters
State claims of AI-assisted intrusion are increasing, and independent verification of how much automation was involved remains difficult.
