Editorial standards

Finite summarises other publishers' reporting. It does not conduct original reporting, and it does not present itself as the originating source. These standards govern how summaries are produced.

Sources

We draw from a curated set of established outlets and prioritise primary documents, official announcements and original reporting. Every story links to its sources.

Corroboration & verification

Stories reported by more independent outlets rank higher. Summaries are grounded only in the source headlines and blurbs; we do not invent facts, figures or quotes. Where outlets disagree on a number, we say so.

Neutrality

Summaries attribute contested claims ("X said", "reports said"), avoid adopting one outlet's framing, and apply the highest bar to political, communal and conflict stories. The aim is plain, neutral language.

Developing stories

Each day's brief is a snapshot in time. As events develop, later briefs cover them again; earlier editions remain in the archive as a record of what was known then.

Corrections

See our corrections policy. On human review: finite is early-stage and does not yet operate a formal human-review gate before publication. Summaries are audited periodically, and every story links to its original sources so readers can verify. We would rather state this plainly than overclaim.
