Saudi Arabia closes oil pipeline after Iraq-launched drones
Saudi Arabia temporarily shut its East-West oil pipeline after drones launched from Iraq struck the route used to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Iraq condemned the attack, removed a military commander and opened investigations. RSS reports do not quantify damage, identify the attackers, state lost export volumes or give a reopening timetable.
Why it matters
Disabling the alternative route compounds risks to Gulf oil exports and global energy prices.
