Gobena breaks Sydney Marathon record as Jepchirchir wins
Ethiopia’s Addisu Gobena won the Sydney Marathon in a course-record two hours, four minutes and 42 seconds. Kenya’s Peres Jepchirchir took the women’s race, adding Sydney to victories in Boston, New York and London. The former javelin thrower Gobena delivered a major breakthrough in the men’s event.
