EU weighs reducing barriers to cross-border work
The European Commission is examining whether less paperwork could make it easier for people to work outside their home countries within the bloc, Politico Europe reported. Differences in social-security systems and recognition of professional qualifications remain significant obstacles, even though goods generally move freely across national borders in the single market.
Why it matters
Easier labour mobility could help address skills shortages and make the EU single market work more consistently.
