Dangote refinery launches Africa's biggest share sale
Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has launched the continent's largest-ever share sale by listing 4.1 billion shares in his Lagos oil refinery. France 24 says the offering seeks $1.6 billion from retail investors and values the refinery at about $49 billion, while Dangote presented it as a chance for ordinary Nigerians to participate.
Why it matters
The listing could deepen African capital markets while broadening ownership of one of the continent's largest industrial assets.
