China reportedly permits limited imports of Nvidia H200 chips
Beijing has reportedly allowed ByteDance and Tencent to receive about 10,000 Nvidia H200 chips each at their mainland facilities, according to Engadget and Techmeme's summary of the Financial Times. Other Chinese companies may follow as authorities permit small shipments intended to help domestic technology groups compete with US rivals.
Why it matters
Limited access to advanced Nvidia processors could accelerate Chinese AI development without fully reopening the market.
