Walmart begins accepting Apple Pay and Google Pay
Walmart will introduce Apple Pay, Google Pay and other tap-to-pay options at selected Walmart and Sam's Club locations from August 24 before expanding support to all US stores. The retailer had resisted the payment methods for more than a decade, relying on its own Walmart Pay system, according to six outlets.
Why it matters
The change removes a major holdout and makes contactless phone and watch payments available to millions more shoppers.
