AfD favoured in Saxony-Anhalt state election
Polls opened in Germany’s eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt with the far-right Alternative for Germany expected to finish first. Reports projected roughly 41% of the vote and said the party was seeking the first far-right state-level victory since the Second World War. An outright majority, however, was not guaranteed by the polling.
